Adult MINISTRY

Growing in Grace and Knowledge

The goal of our Adult Ministry programs is bringing people together so they may grow in their knowledge of Jesus Christ, enjoy fellowship, and be ambassadors of God's love among our members and in the community.

We invite you to join one of our Adult Ministry programs! Contact the church office at 705-743-4904 for more information.

  • The Neighbour's Cafe

Come join us for a free coffee time on Monday mornings from 9:30 -11:30 a.m. The Neighbour's Cafe (formerly the Rock Cafe), is a welcoming space we make available to our neighbours and community members. There's lots of hot coffee, tea and home made treats. The Neighbours' Cafe offers a great opportunity to meet others over a cup of java.

The Neighbour's Cafe at Cephas Church is open Monday mornings from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.

  • Mary and Martha (Women's group for all ages)

Mary and Martha are two women in the Gospels who have different personalities but the same devotion to Jesus. All women are welcome to participate in this group that focuses on Bible study and fellowship. Group outings and social events are also on the agenda!

The Mary and Martha women's group meets in Cephas Church every other Tuesday @ 9:45 am.

  • Young@Heart Ministry for Retirees

Retirees of every age are invited to join our Young@Heart for fellowship, discussion on topics of interest, guest speakers, and special outings. This group meets in the Fellowship Hall at Cephas Church where coffee and goodies are generously served. This is a joint program with Living Hope Church

Young@Heart meets in Cephas Church on the first Thursday of each month @ 10 am.

  • Dinner with Friends

Men and women gather in the kitchen each month to prepare a new dish together. Learn to cook exotic meals from Dutch pancakes with bacon and apples, to Indonesian rice and noodle dishes - no experience necessary! Leaders rotate and show how to prepare a different recipe in each class, which is enjoyed by the group. The cost of the food is shared ($5.00 pp).

For more information see their Facebook page (Dinner with Friends), and/or contact Brenda Ibey by email at bibey@cogeco.ca.

  • Breakfast Social at Smitty's

All ladies and men are invited to enjoy breakfast on the first Wednesday of every month at Smitty's restaurant on George Street. The focus of this time is to experience fellowship and friendship with each other. All ages are welcome!

This group gathers at Smitty's on the first Wednesday of each month @ 9 am.

  • Members of One Body

Cephas Church is a community of believers who show God's love to one another. This is done through hosting Coffee Socials after the worship service each week, supporting new moms and members in the hospital through a Care Network, and upholding those with concerns and prayer requests in our Prayer Network.

If you feel called to help out in a ministry supporting our church members, contact the church office at 705-743-4904.

Serving our Community

Cephas Church reaches out with God's love in Peterborough

  • The Neighbours Cafe is a Cephas Church initiative to provide hospitality space to our community members. From 9:30-11:30 am on Mondays, the Neighbours' Cafe in our foyer provides lots of hot coffee, tea and home made treats. A great opportunity to meet others over a good cup of java, conversation and laughter.
  • Our parking lot, by arrangement, is made available during the week to community groups wanting to access the Kinsmen Park adjacent to us (these groups currently include a seniors slow-pitch team, a disabilities group, and a kids optometric group). We are happy to share our parking lot during the week with community groups.
  • We have members actively involved in the Re-Source Thrift Store, which raises money to support local Christian education.
  • Our church cares about the people in our community who are marginalized, and supports The Good Neighbours Care Centre with donations of food and volunteer time.
  • Along with our sister church Living Hope, we support the following local ministries: Brock Mission, Peterborough Pregnancy Support Services, Cameron House, Y.E.S. Youth Shelter, Rhema Christian School and Telecare Distress Centre of Peterborough
